{"id":326,"date":"2014-12-02T01:00:32","date_gmt":"2014-12-02T06:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/withskillfulhands.com\/?p=326"},"modified":"2026-04-01T16:21:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T16:21:37","slug":"the-preacher-as-steward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/withskillfulhands.com\/index.php\/2014\/12\/02\/the-preacher-as-steward\/","title":{"rendered":"The Preacher as Steward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <strong>1 Corinthians 4:1<\/strong> Paul said of himself and Apollos <strong>&#8220;Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and <em>stewards of the mysteries of God<\/em>.&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong>As preachers, Paul and Apollos were <em>stewards\u00a0<\/em>of God&#8217;s Word. The same is true of any preacher today.<\/p>\n<p>In Paul&#8217;s day the\u00a0master would entrust\u00a0the steward\u00a0with the responsibility of feeding the household. The faithful\u00a0steward would take food from his master&#8217;s pantry and feed the household with it. In the same way, God has entrusted the preacher with the responsibility of feeding God&#8217;s household. The preacher takes spiritual food from the pantry of God&#8217;s Word and feeds the household of God with it.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus\u00a0asked in Luke 12:42, \u201cWho then is the faithful and sensible <em>steward<\/em>, whom his master will put in charge of his servants, to give them their rations [food] at the proper time?&#8221; The preacher (as steward) aims\u00a0not only feed God&#8217;s household, but to share\u00a0just the right passage at just the right time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 1 Corinthians 4:1 Paul said of himself and Apollos &#8220;Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.&#8221;\u00a0As preachers, Paul and Apollos were stewards\u00a0of God&#8217;s Word.
