At New Day we use Money Matters in Church: A Practical Guide for Leaders to project income for the upcoming year. The book outlines two main ways to project income. In this post I’ll cover the first. In Thursday’s post I’ll cover the second. The first method is called the “Numerical Increase Method.” This is straight out of the book (which I highly recommend you purchase):
History of Giving Increase over Previous Year
2004 $300,000
2005 $450,080 $150,080
2006 $575,000 $124,920
2007 $725,800 $150,800
Add the increases together ($150,080 + $124,920 + $150,800 = $425,800)
Divide by 3 ($425,800 divided by 3 = $141,933 average increase)
2007 giving $725,800
Projected Increase $141,933
2008 Projected giving $867,733
To project your own budget for the upcoming year simply fill in your own information and crunch the numbers. When New Day first started, I had to use months instead of years because I didn’t have the luxury of four years of giving history to work with.
